We left Monteverde at 6.30am and descended down the hillside on a winding dirt track - pretty hairy at times (See pic). Then we had our first taste of the Interamericana highway. Now, we had high hopes of this iconic road, which links two continents and passes through dozens of amazing and awe-inspiring landscapes.
It looked a bit like the A68.
Anyway, it was fast compared to the dirt track, so we were soon back in San Jose, where we boarded a bus to Puerto Viejo. Early impressions seem good - lots of nice bars/restaurants/shops and a lovely great big stretch of beach for Will to get rid of his trucker's tan on.
We'll let you know how we get on. W&Sx
